Sr. Maria Andujo RGS

Sr. Maria Andujo, RGS, 81, a member of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, passed away peacefully at the Carrollton Community Convent in Carrollton, OH, on February 13, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1944 in Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico. Sr. Maria professed temporary vows with the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity on August 19, 1982 in Pittsburgh, PA and she professed final vows on September 5, 1986 in Erie, PA. Sr. Maria’s preparation for ministry included religious studies in Scripture, Liturgy, Mariology, and church history at Interreligioso “Guadalupano de Saltillo” in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico and continuing education courses in Dallas TX. Sr. Maria served in El Paso, TX, where she assisted in a program to feed those in the homeless community. She also served in San Antonio and Dallas TX and at the Community’s retreat center in Walden NY. A deeply religious woman with a saintly character and positive spirit, Sr. Maria emanated a quiet dignity and was kind and welcoming to everyone. She was an accomplished seamstress and she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, such as food preparation. Sr. Maria was constantly engaged in community and always ready to lend a hand whenever help was needed. She will be long remembered for her warm smile and graceful presence, as well as her unwavering dedication to her prayer life and her service to others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Sr. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Gonzalo Andujo, her mother, Francisca (Bustillos) Andujo, her brothers, Hector Rafael, Gonzalo and Francisco and her sister, Maria del Carmen. She is survived by her brother Ricardo, sisters Maria Elizabeth and Lucelva, many nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and Saturday, February 21, from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Martin Funeral Home in El Paso, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, February 21, at 10:00 AM in San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, El Paso, TX. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, El Paso.
