Barbara Jo McFadden Truman

Barbara Jo Mc Fadden Truman was healed body and soul as her spirit passed from Earth to Heaven on Saturday, July 18, 2026, after a long beautiful joyful life. God in His lovingkindness graced Barb in her last days to spend time with her family and friends: it is an incredible gift for which her family personally thanks God for. Barb loved to tell stories, she loved to laugh, and she loved every person she met, sharing her extravagant love beyond measure everywhere she went. She was honored with the ability to make everyone feel seen and loved and she used this gift to bless so many people; especially her two children, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Barb graduated from Carrollton High School in 1960 and Canton Business College in 1961. As one of three girls that formed the Welcome Wagon in Carrollton in the 1960’s, she was also one of the original founders who formed the Suburban Garden Club. In their honor, Dick and Barb received the Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award. Licensed in real estate in 1978, Barb began her career with McFadden Real Estate, moved to Realty One, and finally to Cutler Realty until retiring in 2020. As a lifetime member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church, she served on many committees over the years and greatly enjoyed being a member of the Lunch with Jesus Bible Study. She was a member of the Atwood Yacht Club for 40 years and served on the Board of Carroll Hills Industries since 2002. On November 4, 1961, Barb and Dick were married at the Carrollton First United Methodist Church and were blessed with 64 years together. Her legacy lives on in her children Shelly (Rod) Yoder and Rick (Lisa) Truman of Carrollton. She was very proud of her grandchildren: Sara (Gabe) Rios of Wooster, Matt (Catelyn) Yoder of Carrollton, Anna (Vince) LaRosa of Pittsburgh, and Mike (Lily) Yoder of Nashville. She dearly loved her only great grandchild: Amelia Yoder. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, John Percy and Adeline Brooks McFadden, a brother Richard Eugene McFadden, who died in childhood, and infant sister, Carol Lee McFadden of Carrollton. She is survived by her loving husband, Dick, her sister, Pat (George) Householder of Columbus and and brother, John (Cathie) McFadden of Columbus. Calling hours will be held 1 - 3 PM on Thursday, July 23rd, at the Carrollton First United Methodist Church with a service to celebrate her life at 3 PM. All family and friends are invited to gather at the Van Horne Grand Ball Room immediately following the service for a light meal so that we can reminisce together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hills Industries, PO Box 567, Carrollton, Ohio 44615, or to the Bell Herron Scholarship Fund, PO Box 123, Carrollton, Ohio 44615, in Barb’s memory and in honor of the wonderful staff at Centreville Village for all of their love and care. We would also like to honor the doctors and staff at the Aultman Cancer Center for their outstanding care and dedication.
