Sister Catherine Gentile, a Sister of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd, died peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Convent in Carrollton Ohio. Born in Brooklyn New on November 24, 1932, Sr. Catherine entered the convent in August 4, 1959 in Wheeling WV, and professed her temporary profession in 1962 and final profession in 195. She was preceded in death by her parents, Angelo and Giovannina Gentile Sister Catherine received a child care Certificate at the Polytechnic in London, England on 1964 and Radiological Monitoring Certification at the Dept. of Civil Defense on 1966 in Wheeling WV, Nurse Aid certification on North Technical Ed. Center in River Beach, Florida. She served in many areas, including teenage girls, child care Our Lady of Valley School, Good Shepherd Nursing Home Assisting Administrator, Wheeling, WV, Residential care for children and young people Manchester, England, children and families Birmingham, Ormskirk-Lancashiere and Liverpool, England; Social Worker for Clinic in Rohodell WV “coal mining” town and Clinic in Shady WV, farming town. CCD Coordinator St. Cecilia’s Parish Wisconsin Dells, House mother for Home for unwanted mothers, West Palm Beach, FL, Store manager St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store and Local Superior for Erie PA community. Her cheerful and graceful presence will be greatly missed. Sister Catherine is survived by her community the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd and her brother Salvator, sister in-law, nieces and nephews . Friends and family will be received Thursday 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Good Shepherd Convent Chapel, Carrollton OH. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:00 am.
