Ronald P. Davis, 87, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday afternoon April 4, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. A son of the late William A. and Gladys Preston Davis, he was born January 17, 1928 in Waynesburg, Ohio. Ronald worked as a mailman and Postmaster for Carrollton. He served his community in various ways, including, 24 years as a school board member, Boy Scout leader for 25 years, member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer for 25 years, Carrollton volunteer fireman for 17 years, Carrollton Councilman for seven years, life member and Post Commander for six years of the American Legion Post 428 and VFW member. Ronald was one of the Charter Members of the Carrollton Schools Alumni Foundation, member of the Carrollton Lions Club, and the Carrollton Civic Club of which he received the club’s Distinguished Service Award in 1997. He will be inducted in the Carrollton Alumni Hall of Fame in 2015. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Betty Reigle; two sons, Bill (Tammy) Davis of Columbus and Dave (Jana) Davis of Carrollton; daughter, Sandy (Scott) Patterson of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Kelly, Hailey, Melanie, Kailey, Addie, and Emmett. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Neeley. Funeral services will be Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. in the church and Friday one hour prior to the funeral. The family wishes that memorial donations be made in Ronald’s name to the American Legion or Carrollton Schools Alumni Foundation.
