Susan K. (Carter) Sweebe

Susan Kay (Carter) Sweebe, 55, was called to rest on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Canterbury Villa of Alliance, Ohio, with family by her side. “Susie” was born on December 8, 1958 in Canton, Ohio to Joseph and Dorothy (Eick) Carter. She spent her childhood growing up on the family farm. During her youth, she attended the New Harrisburg Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. Susie graduated from Carrollton High School in 1977 and played clarinet in the concert and marching band. She also studied Spanish and traveled with a class group to Mexico. After high school, Susie married David Sweebe and was a loving mother to sons, George and Erik Sweebe of Carrollton, Ohio. She was also a very proud grandmother to Andrew Sweebe (Erik’s son). During 36 years of marriage, Susie was dedicated to family and worked many years at PCC Airfoils in Minerva, Ohio. Susie looked forward to the annual Great Trail Festival with American folk art and country crafting. She enjoyed a simple, quiet life, was caring and soft-spoken, with a quick wit, beaming smile, and mischievous laugh. She was known to have a sweet tooth, and when possible, would eat her dessert first. Susie is survived by her husband, sons, grandson, and parents listed above; brother, Steven Carter, and sister, JoAnne (Edwin) Jones of Carrollton, Ohio, and of the Sacramento, California area: sisters, Jeanette (Dominic) Accettola and Jackie (Maurice) Wilson, brother, Stuart Carter, and mother-in-law, Yvonne Sweebe of Carrollton, Ohio, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who hold her dear to their hearts. A memorial will be held at the New Harrisburg Presbyterian Church at 12:00 noon on Sunday, August 31, 2014, following the 10:30 a.m. service. Join us to share your memories of Susie. Interment will be held privately. The family expresses appreciation to all who assisted in caring for Susie during her illness, including staff of: Carroll Healthcare Center of Carrollton, Ohio, the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, and Canterbury Villa of Alliance, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, or a charity of your choice. Susie will be forever loved, always missed, and we are confident that, “to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.” [2 Cor. 5:8]
