Irene Stone

Irene Stone (Sabol), formerly of Amsterdam, Ohio, and most recently of Carrollton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on June 11, 1937, and lived a life defined by faith, love, and selfless devotion to her family. A devoted Christian and faithful follower of God, Irene attended Carrollton Bible Chapel after she and her beloved husband, Tom, made their home in Carrollton. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her with kindness, compassion, and a servant's heart. She was always willing to do what was right and necessary for her family and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Irene found great joy in cooking, baking, and welcoming family and friends into her home. In her younger years, she cherished hosting large family gatherings where everyone felt loved and well-fed. She was also an avid card player who spent many years participating in and hosting card clubs, enjoying countless games of euchre, 500, and other favorite card games with family and friends. Her home was always a place of laughter, fellowship, and friendly competition. Her homemade cabbage rolls, haluski, nut rolls, and incredible assortment of cookies became treasured family traditions that will be remembered and dearly missed for generations to come. She is survived by her son, Michael (Pam) Stone; her daughter, Susan (Matthew) Miller; her granddaughters, Christy (Robert) Baker and Brittany (Logan) Krell; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Bowersox, Mackenzie Bowersox, Emmy Krell, and AJ Krell; her brother, Carl (Anna) Sabol; her sisters, Betty Ann (William) Johnson and Susan (John) Abell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Stone; her brother, Joe Sabol; her sister, Alice Ondusko; and her son-in-law, Doug Brown. Irene will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and her unconditional love for her family. Whether through a warm meal, a plate of freshly baked cookies, or simply a listening ear, she made everyone who entered her home feel welcome and cared for. Her quiet strength, kindness, and steadfast example will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. While her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Irene's life at a memorial service on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carrollton Bible Chapel. The service will be officiated by Pastor Dr. Chuck Wilson and will be followed by a time of fellowship, with a light luncheon served as part of the gathering.
